Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral surgeons are dentists who have completed their studies in dentistry and obtained their license to practice as a dentist, and have subsequently completed four years of advanced training in dental surgery at a university dental clinic. These dentists must complete an extremely wide range of oral surgical procedures and implant operations, and demonstrate their acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in an examination. In all maxillofacial and implant-related surgical interventions, it is particularly important not to lose sight of the dental aspects of the treatment. In implant-supported prosthetic rehabilitation, the implants must be optimally anchored in the bone, but an impeccable dental prosthesis must be manufactured as well. Thanks to their specific training and experience, oral surgeons are especially suited to carry out such procedures.
